JJ – California Takes Steps to Outlaw Styrofoam All Together – Jamba Juice Take Notice

Hi John,
This is great — momentum is building.
On Monday, the statewide ban on Styrofoam overcame its first major hurdle, by passing out of the Assembly Natural Resources Committee. [1]
On Tuesday, Palo Alto passed on ban on plastic foam. [2]
Things are really moving. And it’s all thanks to you.
Your tens of thousands of e-mails have pushed people in Sacramento to look a little closer into the issue of marine debris from Styrofoam. Your generous donations have fueled my staff and me to do more to help the bill.
And all this progress couldn’t come at a better time. Some heavy hitters have come out against the bill to ban Styrofoam takeout containers.
The biggest is the American Chemistry Council. They are actually arguing that Styrofoam and other plastic foams are not bad for the environment!
They come with really schmancy PowerPoint presentations, graphs and market projections — trying to cloud the issue. But I come with tens of thousands of voices behind me calling for us to do the right thing, as well as the research thats shows just how bad Styrofoam is.
After all, this is a simple issue: Nothing we only use for 10 minutes should be floating around in the ocean for 10,000 years.
So keep taking action and getting your friends and family involved — and let’s take these guys on.
Sincerely,
Dan Jacobson
