COA Website Public Forum Set for Wednesday June 17, 6:00 – 7:30 (details inside)

[The following message was distributed by Matt Esquibel, webmaster for the City of Austin]

Hello Everyone,

We just wanted to touch base with you to inform you that we will be briefing Council on June 18, 2009 about the status of the AustinGO project. The presentation will include a brief project history and outline our plans to close the old RFP and move forward with a new process.

We also wanted to invite you to a public forum on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at the Carver Museum from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. to discuss the AustinGO project moving forward. We hope to provide insight into the direction of the project and listen to the the thoughts and ideas of the community in attendance. We plan to have more public forums in the coming months and will provide more information as dates, times and formats are determined.

Please help us spread the word to people in the community!

Thank You,
Matthew “Mateo” Esquibel

[This message was delievered via Facebook - Austin GO Event Page. When did the City start using Facebook for update distribution. Checking to see if the AustinGO.org site has been updated.]

Humorous Note: WHURLEY himself emailed this message to the OpenAustin.org Facebook members:

Picture 7Hey everyone,
In the spirit of working with the City of Austin we’re helping them to get the word out about their upcoming public forum. [My snipe: Thank goodness we're in the spirit of working with then rather than against them.]

The City of Austin is hosting a public forum on AustinGO initiative on Wednesday (6/17) at the Carver museum from 6pm-7:30pm. They’ll be putting out more details soon but this is all the information we have for now.

So, join the OpenAustin team at the Carver museum to help the City move the AustinGO initiative forward!

(note: whurley won’t be able to make it cause he’ll be out of the country but several of us will be there!)

[Wow, I am so disappointed WHURLEY won't be there, but at least he will be on something really important, out of the country. He's probably working on open sourcing hunger in a 3rd world country or seeing U2 in Kenya or something. WOW!]

Another funny thing is, he forgot to update that information on the Open Austin Facebook Page. That’s okay, I took care of it. (grin)
